From Concept to Canvas: My Debut Art Show

Well, it is now in the books. I hosted my 1st ever art show. I had it written down as a goal for 2024 to have my art displayed in public. I love having it in my own home but the beauty of creativity is when it can be seen by others. And I witnessed that first-hand while we were installing. In the middle of the install 3 people were talking by and stopped to look. Inevitably a conversation ensued and it was such a beautiful and rewarding experience to be able to introduce myself, my art, and my theme.

And then I learned that there are regular tours with schools to view the art. Talk about a full circle experience. Anytime I have hosted events for children I relished in the opportunity to inspire them to be creative and to recognize its value and impact. Now my art is going to be viewed by countless children over the next 3 months. Such a delight.

On the day of the show, I did feel really nervous and some moments of self-doubt crept in. But then I paused, took a breath and realized how grateful I should feel. The universe aligned to allow this moment to occur and I became very present.

Seeing the smiles of friends and family make all of the ups and down worth it. And trust me there was endless pacing here in NYC as I was making the final decisions.

One particular moment I will cherish forever was with my nephews (of course). They were asking questions about the art and how they could barter for a piece. I was grinning ear to ear as they walked me through all the options. I hope this experience inspired them to realize that there is an artist inside all of us.
