BrushWork in Chelsea
This BrushWork coincided with the 1 year anniversary of the day I decided to move from LA to NYC. There was an energy in Brooklyn that I had not felt in some time and that energy directly inspired that thought….”am I about to move cross-country?” Over time, that inspiration led to the big action of the move. I walked attendees through that story and it help set up the themes for the night…Energy, Inspiration, Action.
I have spent more and more time thinking about the intro story to my BrushWorks. I want there to be intention behind the prompts. No matter where the attendees take them; either literally or they decide to go on their own creative path, I want there to be a through-line connecting the beginning to the end.
This was a very engaging group of attendees. Some knew each other while others were complete strangers and I think that balance led to a bunch of chit-chat during the event. I feel that is one of the major components of being creative amongst others…the camaraderie and cross-collaboration. You could overhear “hey what did you paint there?” and “whats the backstory?” Those moments are so special to hear and engage with. Even though there are moments of focus and time where the heads are down and the hands are busy; the connection is so apparent as the conversations occur.
So much value to putting down your phone and picking up a brush!
